Third Grade Marco's Pizza box night is this Thursday.
Western Day is this Friday, November 15th. Wear plaid, boots, jeans, cowboy hats, or any fun western attire you desire. :) Yeehaw!
This week is our 6th week of Wonders Unit 2. Every 6th week is a reading/writing skill review week. There are no spelling words or spelling homework this week.
Reading: This week we are reading articles from StoryWorks Junior magazine. This highly entertaining magazine will teach us grammar and paragraph writing skills while reading the true story of a cat who is the mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska. Students will read the play, When Girls Ruled Baseball. We will end the week with a debate over children's menus in restaurants. Our class always looks forward to the fun variety in each issue of StoryWorks Jr. magazine!
Math: Our final unit on strictly multiplication/division will come to an end this Friday with a "quest" over patterns, products, and word problems. I've been more than thrilled with all the light bulbs I see going off when students realize new ways to memorize and solve tough multiplication facts. I can tell they have been studying at home too! Thanks for all your help!
Paragraph Packet: Last month was all about character pumpkins. This month's homework assignment will guide students to write an opinion essay on their preference of indoor or outdoor recess. Students need to complete the graphic organizer, rough draft, final copy, and rubric. Please let me know if you have any questions. It is due next Monday, November 18th.
